"After the Gold Rush"

Me playing Neil Young's "After the Goldrush".

I think I'm becoming more musical and relaxed.... It's really really weird when these musical advancements happen inside your brain. It's quite unlike anything I'd experienced until I started playing and singing last year. It's goes somewhat like this: First you get a few weeks where things are slowly starting to click, and with a bit of struggle you can just about do the stuff you've been trying to do. Then one morning you wake up and it's like the flood gates have opened while you slept, or it's like a new room inside your brain has been opened up, and this room is ready to be filled up. So suddenly the stuff you have been struggling to do is quite easy, and you can do new stuff you didn't even realize you were trying to do. The first couple of days you feel almost drugged, it's like you're on mind enhancing drugs.... or like you've been seeing the world in black and white and suddenly you're seeing colors. Then it becomes the normal way of seeing things.

Well, I hope I don't sound like someone who thinks he's suddenly turned into a musical genius overnight. There's obviously still far to go.

My version:

Neil Young version:

Thom Yorke version:

AFTER THE GOLD RUSH

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights
In armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and
Drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing
To the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.

I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home.

It sounds good! And there's nothing wrong or conceited with feeling good about your own progress.
