"Tiny Tyrant" by Lewis Trondheim and Fabrice Parme

I did take me some time to get around to buying "Tiny Tyrant".... I love Lewis Trondheim, and he's the writer of this series, but I didn't know the artist, and the cover art didn't quite catch my imagination.

But I bought it in Copenhagen this weekend, and man, it's great. Definitely one of the funniest Trondheim books, and the art is brilliant too. It's very much in the style of 1960s cartoons like the Pink Panther, or the retro 60s design they used in Pixar's "The Incredibles". The concept is fairly straight forward. It's a six year old spoiled brat who's into video games, dinosaurs and shit... well, he's the king, or more like a dictator, really... of an entire country. , It's pretty much like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes made into an annoying tyrant. Good fun is pretty much guaranteed. This book is highly recommended, should appeal to fans of... well, Calvin and Hobbes and classic Warner Bros cartoons. (hmm, that badly written review sounded like it was written by a kid, but I guess it's just the good childish fun from this book spilling over into my brain)

You can read an excerpt from the book on the publishers site.

I found another blog post praising the art of Fabrice Parme , from someone who knows more about him than me. I wont repeat that... i'll just repost a few highlights, and ask you to visit that other blog if you want to see more.
