The Jack Kirby monster blog is one of the coolest places on the internet. It has scans of monster comics done by legendary artist Jack Kirby. These comics were done in the early 60s, just before Kirby and Stan Lee made superhero comics hot again by introducing The Fantastic Four. These comics were kind of created in a vacuum where super hero comics were not popular anymore, and real horror comics could no longer be made because of the horror comics scare in the mid 50s and the introduction of censorship via The Comics Code. So the only option was endless variations on the "Not TOO scary big monster" theme. Weird!
